Cisco ws-c2822 switch cables converters

The Catalyst M switch chassis has two half-card slots available allowing two half-card modules to be installed. The following half-card modules are available:. Figure shows the module with the major features identified. Figure shows the module. When you insert the TwinGig into one port, its neighbor port automatically converts to 1 GE interfaces whether it has a TwinGig installed or not, so you must position your TwinGig converters next to each other.

The neighboring port to a TwinGig port cannot support an X2. Note When using TwinGig converters and X2 transceivers on this module, keep them grouped in pairs as follows: ports 1—2, ports 3—4, ports 5—6 and ports 7—8. Inserting a TwinGig converter or X2 transceiver in any port will affect the capability of its neighbor port, and both will be set to handle the same type automatically. Mixing within a port group does not work. As an example, you would not be able to have an X2 transceiver in port 1 and a TwinGig converter in port 2.

Figure shows the module with major features identified. Category 6—Up to Up to ft m at 1-Gbps. Category 6a and Category 7—Up to ft m at both Gbps and 1-Gbps. Figure shows the location of the serial number for your switch. You will need this information when contacting Cisco for support. Skip to content Skip to search Skip to footer.

Product Overview Revised: January 4, This chapter describes the Catalyst M switch and the supported half-card Ethernet modules. Table Catalyst M Switch Features Feature Description Chassis 8-port fixed configuration plus 2 half-card module slots Uplink ports 8 Gigabit ports that support X2 transceivers. Slots 2 half-card module slots are available allowing you to configure the chassis to your specific needs. Reset switch The Reset button is used to restart the switch.

Fan tray Variable-speed. Field replaceable. Chassis requires 2 RU 1. Wei ght Console port—A console serial port RJ provides for switch management using standard console equipment. You can use it for file transfer tasks such as loading a new software image. The Flash card is optional and can be obtained from third-party suppliers. Port front Green—Port is operational. Yellow—Port is disabled by user. Flashing yellow—Power-on self-test indicates faulty port.

Off—No signal detected or link configuration failure. Green—Fan tray operational. Red—Fault detected. One or more fans not functional. Off—No power to the fan tray. Off—No power to the power supply.

Chassis Cooling The hot-swappable chassis fan tray WS-X provides cooling air for the internal chassis components. Caution When the fan tray is removed, internal circuitry is exposed that should not be touched by tools or fingers. The system should not operate without a fan tray for longer than is necessary to replace a faulty fan tray with a new fan tray.

Environmental Monitoring of the Power Supplies Using the environmental monitoring and reporting functions, you can maintain normal system operation by resolving adverse environmental conditions prior to loss of operation.

The Catalyst M switch supports the following power supplies: W AC-input W DC-input A redundant power supply can be identified and diagnosed by a running system regardless of its input status. Catalyst M Half-Card Modules The Catalyst M switch chassis has two half-card slots available allowing two half-card modules to be installed. Pluggable transceivers support Not supported Module upgrades available None Power over Ethernet Not supported Serial Number Location Figure shows the location of the serial number for your switch.

PS1 and PS2 front. Dependent on the type of X2 transceiver installed. Refer to Catalyst Switching Modules for the detailed specification for the Catalyst switching modules. Identify the switch chassis part number. Note: The Catalyst switch ships with a 0. You can also order these StackWise cables from your Cisco sales representative:. Catalyst Hardware Guide. The patch cable can connect two Catalyst switches in a cascaded configuration.

Identify the switch chassis or expansion module part number. Refer to the Power Installation Guidelines in the tables that correspond in the next section for international power requirements, DC power requirements, and other technical specifications.

Different Modules require different amount of power. Inline Power modules supplies the power to the IP phones. Cisco has inline power module to power the IP phones. You have to choose the correct power supply in order to support the various line cards, modules and Supervisor Engines on the switch. Cisco offers a tool called the Cisco Power Calculator which can be used in order to choose the correct power supply for your switch.

Then the power calculator shows the results of different choices of power supplies. From that, you can choose the required power supply. The power supplies successfully operate at their greatest capacity if the input voltage is between and volts AC.

This table is a quick reference for the available power supplies and cables in North American standard. Refer to Catalyst Power Supply Specifications for the detailed specifications you can. These few points are important to know:. The Power supply output depends on the supplied input AC power. This table shows the power ouput:.

It operates at W maximum output when it is used with Catalyst E, E, and These are the various combinations of AC inputs and the corresponding net power output:. Note: If you have Vac power inputs, you have to connect both the AC inputs of the W power supply in order to power on the switch. The Catalyst series switches allow you to mix AC-input and DC-input power supplies in the same chassis.

The modules have different power requirements, and some configurations require more power than a single power supply can provide. The power management feature allows you to power all installed modules with two power supplies. But, redundancy is not supported in this configuration because the total power drawn from both power supplies is at no time greater than the capability of one supply.

Refer to the Power Management and Environmental Monitoring chapter of the Catalyst Software Configuration Guide for the detailed explanation of power redundancy. This table has a quick reference for the available power supplies and the Power cord part number. Category 5 telco cables can be ordered directly from Cisco. Refer to Cisco.
